A motorcycle is harder to wash than a car: exposed electrics, bearings, chains, chrome, matte and gloss paint all sit within a few centimetres of each other. With the right order and a little care, you get a clean bike without forcing water where it doesn't belong.
Preparation
- Let the engine and exhaust cool down completely.
- Protect sensitive parts: cover the exhaust outlet and, if your manual recommends it, the ignition and exposed connectors.
- Check your owner's manual for any washing instructions for matte paint or special parts.
Washing step by step
- Rinse gently with low pressure. Avoid aiming a pressure washer at bearings, seals, electrics and the chain.
- Pre-wash with foam (optional) – the 7WASH Cordless Foam Sprayer lets foam loosen insects and road dirt before you touch the paint.
- Wash with shampoo – 7WASH Car Wash Shampoo and a soft microfiber mitt – from top to bottom: screen, tank, fairings, then wheels and lower parts with a separate brush.
- Rinse carefully with low pressure.
- Dry immediately with a clean Microfiber Drying Towel and a small cloth for edges, switches and chrome.
- Short ride or idle after drying (as your manual permits) helps evaporate remaining water; check that brakes work properly before riding off.
Plastics, rubber and screen
- Treat unpainted plastic and rubber with 7WASH 3D-Protector – it refreshes colour and protects against UV and drying out. Keep it away from seats, grips, footrests and tires.
- Clean the screen and mirrors with a separate cloth and 7WASH Glass Cleaner applied to the cloth.
Quick clean between rides
For light dust and fingerprints, 7WASH Wash & Wax Waterless cleans and adds gloss in one step – spray, wipe with a clean microfiber cloth, buff. Remove insects, mud and sand with water first.
FAQ
Can I use a pressure washer on my motorcycle?
Only with care and distance. Avoid bearings, seals, electrics and the chain – low pressure is the safer choice.
Should I lubricate the chain after washing?
Yes – once it is dry, follow the chain-care instructions in your owner's manual.
Does 3D-Protector go on the seat?
No. Keep care products off seats, grips, footrests and tires to avoid slippery surfaces.
Please follow the safety notes on each product page.
