How to Apply Tire Shine Without Sling or Patchy Results

Clean, deep black tires make a freshly washed car look finished. The difference between a professional look and a greasy, patchy one is almost always preparation and application technique – not the amount of product.

What you need

• A tire dressing and an applicator sponge – both come in the 7WASH Tire Shine Set
• Car shampoo and water to clean the tires first, e.g. 7WASH Car Wash Shampoo
• A microfiber cloth for wiping off excess, e.g. the 7WASH Premium Microfiber Cloth

Step by step

1. Clean the tire. Dressing applied over dirt and old residue looks blotchy. Wash the sidewall, rinse well.
2. Let it dry completely. The tire must be clean and dry before application.
3. Load the sponge, not the tire. Put a small amount of dressing on the applicator sponge.
4. Spread evenly. Work it over the sidewall in smooth strokes until the color is uniform.
5. Let it absorb. Give it a short time to soak in before driving.
6. Layer for more gloss. For extra shine, apply a second thin layer instead of one heavy coat.

Common mistakes

• Applying to wet or dirty tires.
• Using too much product in one go – excess is what slings onto the paint.
• Getting dressing on the tread or brake components – keep it on the sidewall only.
• Applying in direct sun on hot tires.
