Road salt, slush and grime build up quickly in winter. Regular, gentle washing and some preparation before the cold season make winter care much easier.
Before winter: prepare
- Wash thoroughly and dry the car.
- Apply a sealant such as 7WASH Hydro Slick – the water-beading effect and slick surface make dirt easier to wash off.
- Care for plastic and rubber with 7WASH 3D-Protector, which protects against drying out and cracking.
Washing in winter
- Choose a day above freezing and wash in a sheltered spot if possible.
- Pre-rinse thoroughly, including wheel arches and sills, to remove salt and grit before touching the paint. A foam pre-wash with the Cordless Foam Sprayer helps loosen dirt.
- Wash with the two-bucket method and a microfiber mitt, e.g. the Car Wash Shampoo Set.
- Rinse well and dry immediately, including door seals, so they don't freeze.
Glass and interior
- Clean the inside of the windows regularly for better visibility in low sun. Use 7WASH Glass Cleaner.
- Use rubber mats in winter and dry wet carpets.
What to avoid
- Waterless washing on salty, gritty paint – rinse with water first.
- Pouring hot water on frozen glass.
- Scraping or wiping dry, dirty paint.
